CommentsI would like to say that it has been a privilege to be the first visitor to your site. At last, a dedicated site to help PTSD sufferers through their ordeal. Not only is this a very resourceful site for PTSD sufferers, but is also very useful for a vast range of people suffering with other forms of stress and depression, the causes may be completely different, but some of the effects are the same and the advice you have provided can be of great help to everyone. My personal congratulations go to you for the thought and effort you have dedicated here in trying to help alleviate some of the anguish other PTSD sufferers could be going through, this can only mean that you are now looking ahead, not back!! Great site, keep up the good work. Your Bestest Mate Chrissy

CommentsI have been researching PTSD for a project I need to do in a few weeks and have found some of the information on these pages helpful and relevant.
Commentshi Pete Mitchell (by deed poll) ex HMS Antrim 1982 Falklands. RN Service 1977-1988 (1977-1980 JMEM to LMEM what a short period!! not ss) 1977 - latter part 1982 all going very well. 1982 onwards ,no promotion, no motivation, excess drinking, gambling, aggressive, subsequent divorce etc etc etc..nightmares. 1988 into civvy street...diagnosed 1995 PTSD after severe chest pains then investigations. Life a bloody mess. I recommend that anyone that recognises any of the symptoms mentioned in this useful site. seeks urgent advice from their GP. If you have the symptoms and you think you are okay and just thought it was you,, you are at risk. please, please seek advice. regards Pete Mitchell

CommentsHi, I suffered PTSD serving aboard H.M.S.Antrim in the Falklands war in 82.There is one other association for exFalkland War Veterans called sama82.Please go to www.sama82.org.uk. This is the first time I have seen your web page and it really is marvellous. So much info is happening now compared to twenty years ago. You have gone to a lot of trouble to let people know just what this illness is all about. You don't stop there, you actually make an effort to address the symptoms as well and I haven't seen another site quite like this one in the UK.The only other place I have looked was America were they seem to have a host of info, on this subject, Thank you so much. John Leckey-ex-Leading Steward-H.M.S.Antrim
CommentsHi it's me again, I keep coming back to read a little at a time, open up a chat room. PJLygo@aol.com
CommentsI think your web site is excellent. Your symptoms are a signal and will be a life line to many ex-servicemen. I was lucky, I had a very understanding wife and doctor and could afford to pay for private counselling and I am now coming through to the "normal" side. I did not know I had P.T.S.D, I have been out of the army for 14 years. I just wish the powers that be would give out an information pack to people being demobed, maybe they do now, instead of leaving them high and dry with a condition they don't understand, let alone admit to. I have never looked for information before and this site is the best of all. I served down south in 82 and have done NI as well. All the best with the site and I hope you succeed in helping a lot of people.
CommentsHi Andy I am a fellow PTSD suffering est ETC. Vietnam Vet with PTSD since 1973. Whew that's a long time. I have been to so many shrinks and treatment and done so many drugs they have given me its a wonder I can think at all. I am a member of another PTSD online group. I will come back and check out some more of your site. It looks good.. BE HEALTHY Pete G pmgilbertson@aol.com
CommentsYou may wish to add to your Overseas Organisations -= Australia - Commonwealth Department of Veterans' Affairs (see local telephone directories). I have recently completed an eight weeks course of treatment arranged by the Department, and have found it most helpful in managing the symptoms to some extent. But it's always going to be there. The course just helps you to manage the manifestations a bit better, and thus improve your quality of life. from <johntopcow@bigpond.com>
CommentsI have great trouble concentrating but felt impelled to look around your web site. I have "found it" twice by "accident". Though it has not been particularly of benefit to me directly the fact that it exists at all is re-assuring and help full.
CommentsMate went and joined the CLOUD PUNCHER Site a while back. 2 weeks ago I took and overdose, as mates in UK Charles "Nish" Bruce, Keith Johnson both suicided, and an Aussie ex Tankie mate shot himself,. On top of that as well,.. I helped the young Aussie SAS mate killed by landmine in Afgh...., he was joining as I left Unit. Then my Uncle dies 2 and half weeks ago. Another Funeral Mike Colton from the Allied Spec Forces Assoc has been in contact with my wife and has been great along with many other friends around the Globe I "did stuff with". And as I now wait to go to the Clinic, for "respite Care" and to clean any "painkillers" from my system as none work, and am inured { they have no effect anymore includes doses of Pethadine yep!} to most Benzodiaz...s. Got 3 major Ops on legs to come in next few years, each with 8 month recovery including fuse ankle {they are not going near my back!} so on to come, I always feel better when I can talk to someone. You know what we are like agoraphobic etc, anyway, good Site mate Chris Perth Australia
CommentsAndy, At last a web site that helps me understand what I was told by the Army Dr. I lost good mates in NI, never thought anything of it. That was in 87. Took then till 96-97 to tell me I had PTSD by then no mates, no more family, no real life, lost my job felt alone, still feel alone, get wound up by things, cry a lot, deep debt, still get angry. the list goes on I still need help. Update new partner, she understands. Keep up the good work Andy and thanks for this web site. George (RRF 78-92)
CommentsNice One! As a serving sailor who has been diagnosed with PTSD and Depression as a result of Falklands memories it was great to see a British site for PTSD. THANK YOU.
CommentsI’d like to say that it's about bloody time that PTSD is now fully
recognised, I suffered badly after a tour of Northern Ireland back in the late
80's and I didn't get the help and support that I needed. It took about three and a half years and countless nights of nightmares and
unrest before I saw a private psychologist who himself spent some time in the
RAF, so he understood to an extent what I was going through, eighteen months
later I managed to bury some of the ghosts that had been haunted. It is such a shame that your organisation was not around to help me at that
time of desperateness and when I very nearly ended it all, if it wasn't for some
of my airborne pals I would have called it a day. All I can say is keep up the great work and lets keep fighting the
authorities for what is still for some unchartered territory!!! Cheers and stay lucky.
CommentsANDY. I forgot to include my e-mail address for anyone who wants to
contact me its gedmusto@btopenworld.com GED.
CommentsGreat to have sites like these on the web!! Your site looks excellent and the information is great. I was diagnosed suffering from PTSD in 2000 as I served in Bosnia, SFOR 6 in 1999 during the Kosavo conflict. Needless to say I had some shocking experiences.... Keep up your great work! Brian http://www.luchtmobiel.org
CommentsThan you for this site, I feel that you must have been stood behind me taking notes. Your page on bullying is 100% correct even down to my personal records with the mental comment on it. If you would like to talk, I am contactable at djpi@blueyonder.co.uk.
CommentsHello Andy, thank you for helping others. bye Kirby

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a natural emotional reaction to a deeply shocking and disturbing experience. It is a normal reaction to an abnormal situation. |
